episode 64

After returning home, Ichigo and the gang (including Renji, the new Shinigami supervisor of Karakura), sense a strange spirit force. When they return home, Orihime is reminiscing of her brother when she discovers her brother on her doorstep. She invites him in, they have tea and talk. Afterwards, Kakei (her brother) tells her to follow him outside where a large gate appears. When she grabs his hand, he disappears, and she is sucked into a large gate. Nova, Cloud and Ririn are standing on a fence watching the whole thing.

episode 65

The next day, after no clues turn up, Renji gets a call on his cell phone from Ririn. She tells them to go to Icha park in three minutes, or Orihime will die. They arrive there and notice a nearby phone ringing. They answer, and Ririn tells them to go to an E-mart within three minutes. They arrive there, but someone answers the phone first. Chad takes the phone, but Ririn tells him that they lose. She then calls back and tells them to go to Urahara's shop. They answer the phone there, and Ririn tells them to go to Orihime's house at 8 that night. They arrive there, and Orihime is in her house, but she has no recollection of what had happened. Inside, there is a loud noise, and they scatter to investigate. Suddenly, Orihime's eyes glow red and she starts to strangle Chad. Finally, she lets go, and it is revealed that it was not Orihime, but Cloud. Nova appears and Chad is then sucked up in the gate. Finally, Ichigo and Renji go to attack Cloud and Nova respectively, but Nova teleports them away and they then disappear.

episode 66

Ririn calls Urahara's shop and tells them to go to a museum. When they arrive, she tells Ichigo and Renji to leave their weapons in a locker. It is revealed that if they could make it through the museum, they would get Orihime and Chad back. In the museum, there are traps that include collapsing floors and an illusion which makes it seem like Ichigo, Ishida and Renji are in display cases. After Ichigo and Renji get frusterated with eachother and walk in different directions, they somehow wind up in the same room. This is when Ishida realizes that the whole maze was a mix of illusions and atmospheric warping. He tells the two to enter a room with a trap, and this takes them to Ririn. She congratulates them on figuring it out, and right after Ishida explains how he figured it out, Nova appears from behind him and chokes him. However, Ishida uses the Shinigami insignia that Ichigo gave him to release Nova's modified soul capsule. Ririn and Cloud leave, returning Nova to his body, and exit to outside. There, Ririn and Nova give back the Zanpakutou, as well as Orihime and Chad. Ririn then tells them that they should go to school.

episode 67

Once they arrive at school, they find that Ichigo's body and Renji's faux body are sitting at the front of the building. Ririn tells them that one of Ichigo's group is an imposter. They have until 12 to find the fake, or everyone at the school will vanish. Renji, once again tagging along, follows Ichigo to class. The two have an argument and get sent to the hallway. There, Ichigo wonders why Renji is laughing so much, and decides that the only way to tell would be for Renji to "undress" (remove his gigai). However, after tackling him to the floor and telling him to undress, the rest of the class shows up and they begin to wonder about Ichigo. After meeting with everyone, they start to notice people in the school disappearing. Tatsuki also disappears. They meet in a classroom to try and discuss who the fake is, to no avail. Suddenly, Soi Fong and Yoruichi (in her cat form) run up the building, breaking a window. This startles "Chad", and Ichigo figures out that he is the fake. Cloud reverts to his original form, joining up with Nova and Ririn, and exchanges words with Ichigo. Ririn reminds him that if Chad was a fake, the real one is still missing.

episode 68-69

Ichigo, Chad, Ishida, Orihime, Renji and Kon discuss Nova, Cloud and Ririn, while up at Soul Society, everyone is preoccupied with the Bounto. A huge portal opens up over Karakura, that soon sucks up Kon, Ishida, Orihime, Ichigo and Renji. They awaken in a different spot, with a desert landscape. There, Nova, Cloud and Ririn reveal Chad, tied up to a pole, and soon lower an hourglass over him. It's "challenge stage", in which Nova and Cloud will compete. If they don't finish in five minutes, Chad will drown in the sand. Ichigo faces off against Cloud, who soon impersonates Ichigo. Ichigo finds himself unable to use his bankai. Meanwhile, Nova and Renji face off, and Nova uses his ability to absorb Zabimaru's attacks and release them back on Renji. Soon, Nova notices that Ichigo just released alot of power from hiz Zanpakutou, so he absorbs it. Soon, they enter an illusion, and the large hourglass breaks open right before Chad drowns. Ichigo sees Urahara's hat on the ground, and realizes that Urahara was behind it all. Urahara comes out and explains that it was to help him get his Bankai back. Yoruichi appears and says she needs to talk to everyone. Urahara explains that the three were made to detect Bounto, beings that can gain immortality by consuming human souls. He sends Cloud home with Orihime, Ririn home with Ichigo and Nova home with Chad (note: Ishida doesn't get one because he doesn't have any abilities since his fight with Kurotsuchi Mayuri). They each arrive home and the mod souls are put into stuffed animals (Cloud in a rabbit purse, Ririn in a bird and Nova in a turtle). The three soon detect Bounto. Chad, Orihime, Nova and Cloud run into Ryou, who has just consumed a human soul. Ichigo and Ririn run into Yoshino, a Bounto that has a fire-type Doll named Geitei. The two fight, and right before Ichigo is finished off, Rukia appears.

episode 70

Right when it looks like all is lost for Ichigo, Rukia appears to protect him. She soon realizes that Yoshino's doll is too powerful, and right before they are both finished off, Ryou comes and takes Yoshino away. Rukia meets up with everyone else and seems to take a liking to Nova, Cloud and Ririn. They have a meeting in Ichigo's house (with Renji who jumps through Ichigo's window) and then go to school. At school, the three sense a Bounto so everyone leaves. They find Ryou, and save the woman he's about to eat. Then they find out that Ryou uses snakes, and the strap on Cloud's rabbit purse gets turned into a snake. Nova saves him and the three run, while Ryou attacks Ishida because he's the weakest.

episode 71

Ryou tells everyone that he's after Ishida, and Ishida decides to give himself up. Ryou's snakes beat Ishida's head against the ground and he starts bleeding. Suddenly, Geitei (Yoshino's Doll) appears and Yoshino takes Ishida back home where Ishida and her discuss their past. Meanwhile, in Soul Society, Kyouraku tries to get Mayuri's Bounto data, but he fails. Back in Urahara's shop, everyone begins to hatch a plan when Ichigo sits down and lets a HUGE one rip. Kon then reveals that it was his "boo boo" cushion, and Ichigo sends him flying out the window. Ryou and Kariya, the head Bounto, have a discussion while Yoshino drops Ishida off at the hospital. Everyone meets Ishida at the hospital, and decide to let him rest.
